    Hema Navigator, Who Has One ??

    I'm seriously thinking about buying a Hema Navigator. They have been around for a while now, so who's got an informed opinion of what they're like.
    I just sold my Magellan Crossover which I have never really been happy with as it seemed to have a lot of limitations, like Topo maps cost an extra $300 for the SD card and you can't scan and load your own maps.
    I see, on GPSOZ, you can buy extra topo maps for the Navigator (see below), but how good are the standard maps that are pre-loaded into the unit ? Are they pretty good, or do you really need to spend another $300 to have good maps ? The crossover had no topo maps at all loaded as standard. A lot of the time off road, it was just a blank screen.
    I can get a new Hema Nav for $860.

    From GPSOZ.......Hema Navigator
    Now available;
    the ultimate in mapping for Victoria
    16GB SD card with Vicmap 2008 1:25,000 Topographic maps of Victoria preloaded $309

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    I have one and love it, I use the topo memory maps on it, I bought the unit for this reason, had it for 3 months now, I use ozi exp;ore to get to my destination then change to the memory map for the 25,000 Topo;s.
    Only problem Ive found is not to smash through settings and maps really rapidly other wise it can jam up. if this happens just push the reset.Id say its my fault.

    I have had a demo of one in the shop and they seem good - nice big screen - but if you are a bit computer savvy you can probably get a similar basic unit off ebay and build up something better and cheaper.

    I bought a cheap navigator from ebay that runs windows ce. My dad has one as well. We loaded Ozi explorer for windows ce onto it and I use that. All up it has cost me about $350. Its nearly identical to the Hema unit in features and functions.

    Do all the maps you use on it come as standard with the unit ?? The Ozi Explorer and the Memory Maps ??

    The Ozi exp maps are standard, Memory map is a separate purchase, I have the Queensland and Nsw programs, Memory-Map: GPS Mapping Software for PC and Windows Mobile
