						Hi ,
just wondering if anyone with a GPS in a defender can send me some pics of the placement.
i have a 110 2001 and so the centre consle on the dash with the stereo, power windows, hazards etc are in the waay of the perfect spot.
the unit is large with a 7 inch screen , and so placing on the windscreen insnt a safe option.
any thouhgts?
thanks

Rubbish ! I mean, really ? Are you able to sho me anywhere it says that pleae ?
My understanding was that it has to be placed somewhere that it does not obstruct forward vision. Unless your eyes are the same heigt as the dash, a higher mounting can be achieved - otherwise EVERYONE in Qld with a GPS on their windscreen is breaking the law.
I'm tall-ish so usually see acres of bonnet (its a Defender after all) and using the suction mounting on my Windscreen - the only thing I see less of isbonnet. No part of my view of the road is in any way obstructed.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

After talking in HB with a driver that just got booked in Gin Gin for having the GPS unit just above the dash hold by the suction cup I went the the local police station and show them where I had my GPS installed. It was just above the dash and only limiting the vison of the bonet of the Defender.
The policeman say very clear, if you live it there you are going to get fines.
So, I trust the people that enforce the law by doing the booking and recicle the rubbish that you have mentioned
I am practical and cannot afford fines, even if I have the monety I rather expend the money in a good BBQ or drinks
My GPS will stay were it is now in the photo
Do not make me elaborate with my spanglish
What I was trying to say was that the GPS on the cradle and the suction cup holding it on the lower part of the windscreen was not legal
Now seating in the vehicle the top of the GPS only blocks the wippers at rest position.
Regarding the mud pot it looks like a part of the dash like the old Cortina GT and do not think that will cause problems.
As I said if some one like to disregard what I have said, no problems with me but I woud as the cops just to be on the safe side.
Papers and laws do not mean much if you do not have the money to go and dispute the fien in the Court of Law

sorry i'm new to this.. where is a picture of your GPS?
How about if I uild a eally BIG mud pod that exetnds my dash line to halfway up the windscreen ?
how about if I have a RR Sport with a big chunk of the bottom of the windscreen "blacked out"with what is probably just paint ?
These are rhetorical questions but the latter is interesting.

I'm really interested in where you would be able to place a 7" screen as considering a touch screen hooked up to the computer.Be good to fit it in a mudpod or similar if that was possible,
Cheers,
Mary
