I'd appreciate anyones view on the available off road map options.
I am a member of a Bush fire Brigade that operates primarily in the Perth hills though much further North and South as required.
We get called at any time, often at night/early morning where tired people are required to find a an 'off road' destination quickly under fire road conditions with little time to read the supplied hard copy maps. The fine print that is impossible to read in low light operational conditions for some. ( at last for us old farts )
To have a relatively inexpensive system in each appliance that is easily operated without going through a an endless series of menus or pages to get to a destination would be ideal.
TOPO and Ausie Explorer are in my gun sights though I haven't used either and wonder how they compare.
I appreciate anyones view.
Thanks

Oh course Oziexplorer is a map management program and other than some demos does not have its own maps.

Mate - you have everything you need at your finger tips if you are a member of CFA etc, etc.
CFA has their own topo maps based on DSE topo maps.
They will be the most up to date & the best maps you can get - so ask at your work about them as I know a mate in the CFA whom has a full copy of them![]()
Personally - if I could I would have them as well!
I'm a GIS guy and might be able to help you out. PM sent with my contact details.
