In fact it is actually pretty hard to find welsh plugs these days. We had to replace some in a WWII M3 half track last year and it took about a month to find someone who had them in the correct size.
Doyou have a picture of a welch plug? I tried to find one on google but it kept coming up with standard core plugs. I'm curious as one of my mates does the variety club bash and has some old yank tank and asked me if I knew about removing welch plugs.

Thanks Landy Smurf. What is the difference between a core plug and a welch plug? I thought they were the same thing but Lotz-A-Landies says they are different. I have changed a few core plugs in my time (teaching mechanical workshop to kids) and I am interested so I don't teach the wrong terminology.

    Regards

I teach at a high school in Perth. I used to change the core plugs as an exercise with the kids because it was easy to do on an engine stand, cheap and easy to test.

Automotive and metal were my fav subjects. we pulled apart a mower or wippersnipper motor both 2 and 4 stroke to see the difference and then put them back again. I remember my teacher had a really great book which he got mini booklets from that explained things it was great, so great that I kept hem all
