						SupporterHi brains trust,
i'm slowly ticking through repairs on my 1974 series 3 - was a diesel, now with 186.
when i picked it up there was a what looks like a cable sleeve fixed to the bulkhead on the drivers side that was only about a foot long and not connected to anything in the engine bay. In the cabin it is connected to an aluminium (i think) ferrule just below the dash on the firewall.
Can anyone tell me if it was an original bit of kit that is supposed to do something, or if it is just a remnant of a past agricultural upgrade?
thanks

Guessing that it is the engine stop cable. The Series diesel engines have mechanical injection and the engine is stopped by a Bowden cable that pulls a lever on the injection pump. I suspect this is what you are looking at.

SupporterThanks guys. I thought I’d uploaded pics, turns out not so much. The other thought I’d had is if it was a choke cable. I saw one on a uk based YouTube vid after posting on the weekend. Will add pics when I’m back at a desk this evening.
well that's not in the right spot for the diesel stop cable, not does it look anything like that. Probably some owner modification.
Agreed. Not even LR were that crude locating things.
