general idea of cost of fuel for 2.7L?

Hello All,

I'm getting a 2.7L D4 in April

, and I'm trying to budget fuel cost for the month. Roughly, how much does it cost to fill up a tank (diesel), and roughly how long your tank last with mostly city driving (at this point)?

I would have thought working out the cost of filling the tank is readily calculated from the Disco specs and knowing the cost of fuel - so why ask the question?

beat me to the exact same response

but I would also have added that for any given vehicle take the ADR81/01 combined figure and add 15% for diesel and 20% for petrol and that will be close. Far too many variables to be any more precise than that.

The question is a bit bazaar.
Read label on window as to what car does in l/100.
See what the tank holds and you are on a pretty good path from there.

Say 11l/100. Tank holds say 90L. Thats roughly 800km's per tank.
Fuel is roughly $1.30 p/l. Tank cost $100 to fill.
Its a rough estimate and remember to never run out of fuel in diesels.

Ok I'll see if I can give you bit of a better answer, but of course it will depend on the way you use the car. I have a D3 2.7TDV6. I tend to fill the car up once a fortnight and the average fill is probably between $70-90 depending on the cost of the fuel and how empty it is.

I drive about 5km each way to and from work and then do probably 2-3 40km round trips per fortnight for work, and then drive kids around to weekend sport etc on weekends. I tend to drive it fairly hard. currently the computer is saying I am getting 10.8 litres per 100km.
