Very Impressive Gordon
Just a short video from our last driver-training day, showing D3's, D4's and RRS's offroad - shows what you can do even with just road tyres!

Very Impressive Gordon
Thanks Gordon. You couldn't tell me what the roof rack is on the first disco and the rrs. Thanks heaps. Chris
Agreed. That last section of the powerlines has stopped plenty of vehicles with better tyres and taller suspension.
cheers
Nick
Excellent!I'm not sure when I'll be able to do it, but do you accept Porsches on your training days?
Umm, no - we're a pretty snobby group But I have been approached to do a series of generic training days, which might happen in May .....
Teasing - I'm sure we could make room for an ex-D3 owner!!
A small story to go with the vid ... the first obstacle (which we didn't video, only photo'd) was a series of mud filled "wombat holes", about 2 ~ 3 foot deep. We had 6 cars (2 RRS, 2 D4, 2 D3) to take through the holes, so had pulled over to the side, lined up behind each other. I went through first to demonstrate the ability of the traction control, and then got out to spot the rest of the group.
A young couple of lads were lined up behind us, in a Poo-trol ute with 35" muddies and a rather loudstereo. They obviously lost patience and turned off to pass everyone else and go straight through the wombat holes before I could call through the rest of the group.
Bogged at the first hole
Kind of set the mood for the rest of the day .... after all the Landies got through without a drama, they came back to try again - with the old "speed'll get you through" mentality. They were all pretty sheepish though!!
Cheers,
Gordon
Were you guys out on saturday afternoon ?
Shame I missed you did I did the track both ways with a bunch of mates in the morning and would have loved to have seen those cars on the track
Had a run in with a couple of guys in in a mod'd hilux and wrangler who didn't think the old d1 would get up the hard line on the last hill where they got stuck
anyway got proof =)

Having been driving one of the D4s Gordon mentions I am delighted to add that this was an absolutely priceless moment in a thoroughly excellent day out!! To see the look on these lads faces as they stood and watched all 6 of us waltz through where they'd so ingloriously failed was utterly brilliant. I don't think they could believe their eyes!
Most of us had similar (can't believe our eyes) experiences when faced with some sections of that track - but the way these vehicles negotiated the various obstacles with a minimum of fuss was an absolute testament to the technology and design LR is now using. Mind you, the quality of the instruction was no small help either... Thanks heaps Gordon!
Wow... impressive!
