    D3 accessories and prices

    Hi,

Just wanted to share just in case anyone is interested.

    DGJ500010PMA side molds $343 o/night
VTK500010 side steps $1422 in stock
CAS500010PCL Front flaps $185 in stock
    EAH500100PMA third row rubber mats $88 o/night
EAH500052PMA 1st and second row rubber mats $338 in stock

These are from Austral LR in Brisbane.
I wanted to check with them prices to compare if if I'm better off ordering from UK LR, turns out that I am, e.g VTK500011 is only only $700 delivered. I know it's a business and not a charity, but come on, 100% markup!, that's a bit rich for me.

Also ordered EAH500052PMA for $156 delivered, I can swallow that over $338 for rubber mats! :-)

Anyone else got better prices for any of the above?, would love to hear.

    cheers

That's pretty much what you are going to pay in Oz. I think the mudflaps ( spats ) are worth it to get the correct integrated look. The flat rubber looks pretty tacky. ( probably works just a well though.) I will look to remove the spats before doing anything extreme off road though. They do look vulnerable.

I went for the side steps, and compared to what is currently available they are far better quality, and a more solid construction.

The mats were a mistake. I got the LR mats and they are flashy junk. The rears fit poorly and the fronts are no better than SuperCheap. I cannot recall who posted it, but I think a good quality offcut, trimmed to the correct size, and then bound on the edges, would cost bugger all and do a better job. As for rubber mats, get a set of the deeper off road mats from your local 4WD store, and use them when the conditions warrant. They catch just about everything, and can be removed to hose out.

I was quoted $680.00 for a pair of side airbag seat covers. Yow !! Looking at Ruffnuts covers now, but they are still over $400 a pair. Don't like the canvas or sheepskin options.

Just a note on the LR D3 mud flaps.
In 3 good runs in the mud I have trashed 3 out of 4.
1 rear snapped in half, 1 rear cracked across the middle, 1 front metal top fitting part bent down & back.
I have been trying to source some after market flexible rubber ones, no luck.
Also the rear 1's are useless for stopping rocks hitting a trailer & bouncing back into the car. I got a set of Rock Tamers which seem to have fixed this.

PS the LR side steps are good though I have ripped a piece of rubber off both sides.

Yes, I thought they would be at risk too. I was watching the UTube post by gghaggis the other day, and you could hear the crunch as a D4 with side steps went through a moderate gully. It sounded very much like the sidesteps. Probably makes the case for a set of adjustable sensor rods before any serious off road work.

    conveyor belting for mudflaps

I sent $25 on aroun 1.5M of 6mm 300mm wide conveyor belts and cut out four mud flaps with enough left for a spare. Very serviceable, looks fine and easily replaced.

have you gone ahead with the import - is it a simple process cause there's lots of things that I'd like from LR and if importing them is the way to go why not!

any tips - what have you learned

Hi, I have bought several times from UK dealer,no problems, have arrived faster and cheaper than local dealer. Look up UK site ( DICSO3.CO.UK), "The large one", Nick is parts manager for Yoevil LR, he gets it delivered to your door, check prices on filters while ya at it.
    Cheers Ken

There is the problem of over-all-dimensions . A Mantec plate
was too big for him to freight out at acceptable cost.
Lighter stuff is a considerable saving ie. fog lights.
