I looked at this on the "Off Roading" sliders as initially I thought they had breached this Chassis / Body divide - but they quite cleverly haven't. On the outside, they mount the slider to the body as do most other vendors of D3 sliders, and on the inside, they use the body mount bolt, which is rigidly attached to the body and isolated from the chassis by the rubber!

Good point on the service access though - whether dealer or self serviced!

The GQ sliders were quite different - they were attached to the chassis rails and not to the body. The GQ was also well protected underneath - vulnerable bits were all tucked up well out of the way of rocks etc. Didn't really need any additional protection.

This would be the only thing about the Off Roving Sliders. The entire unit has to be removed to get to the compressor. Not hard though. If I could have it on an off inside 30min whilst lying on the garage floor and usuing a trolley jack on the slider, then the dealer should be able to do it faster!

(Anyway, what are you saying Gordon? Are you saying the compressor needs regular servicing/repair?)

As Owl pointed out the Off Roving sliders don't rigidly connect the body to the chassis.

I must point out that when i purchased them, Gordon had just made his for himself and hadn't started producing them for others.

Sorry Neil. The sliders went with the vehicle. I believe the new owner lives in Perth somewhere now.

Yes, she was getting rather obese. It was noticeable on really soft sand, where the extra weight made bogging more likely and some sand hills almost impossible to cross.

Made no other difference. Fuel economy averaged around 12-13l/100km, but I left the roof rack on permanently, so most of the exta usage would have been due to that.

Do the rear mud flaps still fit with the rock sliders attached?

The sliders fit between the front and rear wheels - there is no modification required at the rear of the rear wheel arch. There's some trimming required to the plastic cover at the front of the rear wheel arch and the rear of the front wheel arch.

Your rear mud flaps are safe!

    There's full fitting instructions here:
