    Limp Mode ?? 2000 rpm / 60km/h

    Hey Guys,

Had a big search on our forums and the disco3 uk ones but couldn't find anything helpful.

Dad was out in our D3 earlier today and the car randomly decided to go into... well what i'm assuming is limp mode. The car would only rev out upto 2000rpm, when he put it across into sports shift it was in 5th gear... he could get upto around 60km/h..... ummm, was real sluggish on the take off...

There was no audible warning sound or lights.... the I icon came up on the dash but he didnt know how to view it... so it was cleared once he got home.. now i have checked to make sure the I was present when he wasnt in sports shift, cause i know it comes up when thats engaged....

Is there anyone in the Greensborough / Eltham area in Vic that has a fault reader??

Also once the car was restarted it went back to normal.... [We checked the passenger footwell for water as we did have an issue with water coming in from the dodgy clips on the external A pillar trims... however we had that fixed months ago by dealer recall.... and it was only ever wet once... and is completely dry now]

Hope i've provided enough info for someone to be of some help...

    Thanks,
    Saiken

The only time mine's been in limp mode, it was due to a bad wheel alignment. But there were plenty of bells and whistles to tell me so.

    well,,
its a rash all over google,,,
    mainly due to throttle positioning
    on various "other" makes.

will be interesting to see if the codes relate across brands

It sounds like one of the sensor tracks was giving implausible values so the revs were limited as a precaution. A bit like the TD5 TPS whereby if a fault is detected for long enough, the throttle is totally disabled until next startup, allowing only idle and that means veeerrry slow acceleration until CC can be used in a manual and none in an auto.
