Thanks heaps for the correct remote control sequence - I can confirm that this works for my D4 MY10. Any chance someone can add this to the FAQ?

I think it is the touch screen that is the key difference and allows the phone address book to be accessible and makes the voice control work. The standard audio system on the SE doesn't have the touch screen, which renders these other features inoperable or useless.

The storage/carrier for the tow hitch is mounted in the lower cubby hole in the left side of the boot, which also give access to the tail lights. The matching cubby hole on the right side houses the jack and tool bag. I eventually found out that some D4's (including mine) were delivered without the tow hitch or storage carrier and this is a known warranty fix whenever these cars are tracked down or the owner twigs that something is missing. I was only put onto this when I was trying to figure out how to fit a rear bike carrier without having any sort of horizontal receiver to slide it into. Roof Rack World in Sydney were sure that the hitch/receiver should have come with the car and the nearby LR dealer confirmed that some had been missed at delivery. It still took a bit of sorting out for my local dealer to realise what had been left out of the car and to order in both the missing pieces (hitch + carrier), but it is now all in order.

Cargo blind has been OK for me and filled the gap in the floor reasonably well once I found the lugs to hang it on. Floor is then flat enough to sleep on comfortably with a thin camping mattress (after a few sherbets).

    Cheers.

    Hi Beamin,

Yes, that's right, I have a touchscreen. I didn't realise that was only an addition with the GPS.

My car came with the tow bar and hitch but they were actually behind the rear seats. I noticed a strap set-up in the LHS cubby hole but the salesman said something about the hitch my car came with being too small and constantly coming loose. I leave my hitch fitted and tow bar at home, so it's never been an issue anyway.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

    D4 - unusual fault

My D4 has developed an unusual fault. When my other half uses the vehicle, the seat comes well forward ( a shorty ) Drive it for a few k's, and I immediately get complaints from her that the dash is lighting up with fault messages. On investigation, the D4 is at the acess height and will not move from this setting, regardless of the speed. The messages effectively advise that everything is off. Terrain response, stability control, gearbox fault, etc, etc. While the seat is forward nothing changes. Push the seat back and start the vehicle after locking & unlocking...everything goes back to normal. The only message is 'confirm suspension height required '?

Got me !!? Must be something to do with the proximity to the steering wheel airbags ? It did not cause a problem when we first got the vehicle.

Any ideas? Nothing I can see on threads or in the manual

It could be a trapped wire that's shorting on the seat base when it's moved forwards.

My thoughts too, as the raise and lower switches provide earth paths when operated.

Ahhhh... Manual seat. Already checked and certainly nothing obvious I could find.

The fault is now permanent, as I don't have a fault reader yet, I am going to kill several birds with one stone. Off to the dealer for a checkup, upgrade to the latest software, and service. ( not quite due, but the timing is right ) It has firmed my decision to purchase a Faultmate or equivalent.

Given the suspension is locked at access, it is a possibility. Into the dealer tomorrow anyway now.
