What's the transmission model # on these things ?

I have a few ZF approvals lists, although I can't recall how up to date they are.

Oh, and this is from ZF

5 and 6-speed as well as 4HP20 automatic transmissions:
ZF 5 and 6-speed as well as the ZF 4HP20 automatic transmissions are filled maintenance-free with specially developed partially
synthetic ATF oils. Maintenance-free fills are intended for normal operating conditions. Especially driving at very high operating
temperatures can result in accelerated aging or increased wear of ATF oils. In the event of operating conditions, such as:
    - highway driving in top speed range,
    - offensive, sporty driving style,
    - frequent trailer operation,
being above average, oil purification (oil change) on automatic transmissions is recommended between 80,000 km and 120,000 km, or
8 years, depending on the load.
In each case, only released ATF oil may be used for oil changes. And oil changes must be performed in accordance with the relevant
    specifications.
The ZF automatic transmissions 5HP18 and 5HP30 are exceptions and must be filled differently depending on the version.
The oils released in each case are specified in the ZF Lubricants List TE-ML 11.

    Hi Mr Swift,
"Figurativly" speaking, comes down to the definition of "lifetime" as I have recently found out!! Mine took about nine to ten litres max, I got the gearbox up to temp this morning and I drained some out, the gearbox was overfilled slightly as described by the filling procedure I read. If you can get all the oil out of the torque converter you're more than likely right I suspect the fill will be about 20 litres. One filling procedure I read mentioned draining the new oil out after 100 klms to get the best possible change, at this time I won't be doing this I took the D3 out this morning and any shudder I did have has gone now, that's good enough for me. I agree the 90k to 100k change period does seem a tad long but with the advancement of oil technology, we could be getting out there. I'm going to take a sample after another 40k and see what the analysis brings back, I'll go from there.
Sorry "lifetime" might not have been the right term to use. Ho hum!

yep I think you were ripped off.

I had an independent land rover specialist work shop (ritters) do my transmission service. They charged me about $35 a litre.
