20 litres of tranny oil, that should last you a life time, I suppose you could always take it back and get your money back

Yes you were ripped off. Where did you buy it.

If you checked this post you could have got it even cheaper:

If we get a few folks intersted we may be able to do even better and get the steel pan.

Still no one will say they want in so I guess I will go it alone.

    Sylvester,
Just done a whole post on this subject, might help, check out the grubby oil in D3 post. The price of the oil should be around what CaverD3 mentions I paid $540 for 20 litres, if I tried to buy less the price went up. Yes this will last me a lifetime, and I would also like to point out as others have the price of oil is cheap in comparison to a gearbox rebuild. If you look to change the oil check out the steel pan option, A&B Transmissions do a conversion kit, well worth while unless you like messing around with engine mountings. I would guess you would be looking at between 90k to 120k for an oil change depending on the type of driving you do.

why would 20 litres last you a lifetime?

the system probably holds 15 litres,

at 120k service intervals I'd be replacing the lot,,

"normal" auto services are a LOT less kays than that

    Jeez,

Every time I turn around there is something else on this forum that I need to worry about. My D3 hit 100k last night and I have no idea of its first 97k of life.

How badly do the dealers slug you for the gearbox service? I'm not very mechanical and don't like the idea of jacking up engines or whatever...

I'm back in a week or so, off to Shark Bay so please don't be offended if I don't get back to you earlier...
