    Window Shades

As summer approaches does anyone know where (around Sydney) i can get correctly fitting window shades for the rear doors on a D4. I would assume that a D3 is almost identical as well so if anyone has a good fit brand and outlet location would be great to know.

It's identical to the D3 doors.

I purchased the Windowsox brand directly online from Rover Discovery 3 | SUV - WindowSOX [WS16147 *] - $39.95 : WindowSOX | Dashmat | Herpotherm | Hipseat | BabyBanz | MobiShade | UVeto , by SunProtec WebStore and it fits perfectly on the D4. Even at freeway speeds there was no flapping etc. Also I don't need to use the velcro stick-on tabs that are supplied as it doesn't seem to ride up the door.

I think that Repco also sells the same brand.

eddomak - do you reckon you could take a photo of those for me please?

Do you think there is any point in these if you don't have rear seat passengers? My car spends most of its days outside while I'm at work. I'm wondering if these would be worth is to keep the car cool during the day.

    They're useless

They damaged the door jams and seals, scuff the paint and look bloody awful

For the price of around $300.00 you can get the entire vehicle tinted.
Blocks more UV, looks nicer, keeps the vehicle cooler, does all but the front windscreen and wont damage your vehicle.

Authors opinion: Why buy a $75k+ vehicle and then make it look tacky with a piece of "shade cloth" draped over the doors? May as well roll a towel into the window like they did back in the day

Hi Dj, get the whole car done. I had a "Bolle" darkest legal tint done for around $380.00. Well worth the $ and looks good too.
I have the rear airconditioning as well, and have found that gthe tinting really compliments it.
    Cheers, Craig

I agree with Tombie that for keeping the heat out of a parked car with no aircon on they're not much good in your situation. I would advise a good dark tint and liberal use of the global open function.

I have the darkest legal tint on the windows and it is excellent.

We have 2 small kids in the middle row and the Windowsox have been great for long distance trips for providing extra shade and making it easier for them to sleep - less bright, and they are definitely cooler.

As for aesthetics - even though not perfect I'd rather have this than the towel solution. I would prefer cooler, sleeping kids than hot bothered terrors. I'll try to get a photo up.

    Cool thanks for the suggestions.

I'll add tint to the list.

My 06 SE doesn't have the Global Open feature sadly. Wish it did. My FL2 had it from the key. Was great walking up to the car and opening the windows from 300-400m away.

Again, I vote go the window tint. Highly recommended.

I paid $380 supply & fit. Legal 35% tint to front windows, & 15% from B-pillar back. 99% UV. Lifetie warrenty. 2hrs to fit.

They have a D4 model now listed.
