Thread: 18' AT tyres for SE D3 (a good news story for a change!)

I was out getting some tyre prices today and the guy asked if I had considered the standard BFG AT KOs in 265/65/18. (and they are LT construction)

So has anyone got this size on their D3/D4 or RRS and how have you found them - do they rub anywhere on a standard vehicle.

I have the same tyres (225/60/16) on my Freelander and they have been great.

Price is the same as Silent Armours at $500 a tyre.

seams that since the aussie dollar is going great guns we are still getting ripped..

my freight quote from tyre rack for 5 tyres came in at

with the aussie dollar being high, shipping is creeping up from the usa. Still though it would be still cheaper significantly from the Tirerack. I was amazed for my roadcar 225/40/18 Michalin pilot sport2 are $770USD+ shipping, where locally im looking at over $500/tyre.

Ive just bought a D3 with the 255/55/18 tyres, which will need replacement at some stage. Looks like 265/60 or 265/65 seem most popular to replace

Hi All FYI.Just received the 5, 255/ 60/ r18 Pireiil Scorpian ATR's from Tire Rack (Cody Rollins was the man) in my case.It went like this,total cost in AU$ from Tire Rack including wire transfer charge from my bank of $33 ( tire Rack would only accept payement via wire transfer,no paypal or card??) was AU $1495.00 at AU/US excange rate of $1.05. Further costs from Fed Express of $288.0 by way of $89 Quaranteen?$144.37 taxes.$55 custom's handling?So allowing $120 for tyre's to be fitted Then total cost to me will be $1904.I took three quotes localy for these tyre's which came in aprox $2075.$171 was the dif so make your own mind up,By the way service with TR was smooth. As the Greenback declines , I've noticed products imported to the
USA and sold back to the World via internet , are becoming far
less attractive. $300 for those tyres isn't so cheap anymore . I recall
looking around 3 years ago , and many tyres in this cat. were USD125 - 180 .....
Perfumes and electronics have gone the same way . Postage
in a swings 'n rounderbout business ; cheaper price , higher freight.
Guitar strings are still terrific imported value . Less than half price
and obscure specs. in stock too. Someone on the Forum was shipped
as 5 by one tyres from TR , and avoided all the local costs .................
