Not directional, IIRC the term is asymetrical, where 1 particular side must go to the outside. The original ones weren't.

Graeme is right - the side wall has a specific label saying this side must face outbound or something the like which I found out when I noticed the tyre guy was putting them on the 'wrong' (right) way! I have read of people reversing them with no noticeable issues but am not keen on this due to potential warranty issues.

Great looking tyre but bloody noisy so far - am playing with pressures to see if I can quieten them down a bit!

Tinted windows done today, looks much better now - pics to follow as soon as it stops raining

Just looking at options to black out the white writing now...

I tried grinding off the lettering on my early MTRs when they needed to be reversed, but found the white is not just a surface layer. The white eventually got so dirty (the tyres were never cleaned) that the lettering became barely noticible. However they were not fitted for general use.

Ok, first idea was to use a black paint pen followed by a couple of liberal coatings of tyre paint. So far it looks good but of course the test will be how long it lasts for!

And yes I know, some what dodgy....so I'm still open to suggestions - boot polish anyone...

    OzAd4x4,
Just check, I did a trip earlier this year with a group & a friend had a set of new MTR's. I had noticed that 2 of the tyres fitted were running the wrong way. The 2 on the drivers side from memory were correct & rotated correctly, but the other 2 were running incorrectly.
This was because the tyres as said have directions on which side faces outwards. But looking at them they have a directional type tread too.
This would then mean you would have to order (if manufactured this way) 2 left hand tyres & 2 right hand tyres !

    It just didnt sem right.

Hence why i did not opt for the MTR's which i really liked.

Have a look and see what you think.

    Cheers

That's an asymetric tread pattern, not directional. You just have to place the same tread on the outside edges when fitting. The patterns are not directional. The reason being is that the cornering tread is always on the outside edge. I had this very same conversation with a local Continental Rep with the Sport Contact III tyres on my Golf GTI.

    Continental Tyres -ContiSportContact 3

This is quite common on modern tread designs. Same tyres LHS and RHS.

Tyres will most likely still have releasing lubricate on them, (so they don't stick to mould) maybe kero, or wax & grease remover first.
I too really hate that white writing (advertisement)
    Good luck Ken

    Hi Phil

Exact spec I am looking at, looks like factory order. Care to sell it to me.

What did you do for the white lettering on the tyres?
