Steering locked msg slows me down

I haven't been game enough to drive too far or fast when the D4 shows its red error symbol and the message that the steering column is locked before I restart the engine to clear the warning. It hasn't actually been locked yet but I don't trust it. It only occurs at startup, with the starting procedure failing to start the engine more often than not these days without a 2nd attempt.

Obviously LR still haven't sorted the startup software.

    Graeme,
You havent bumped or dislodged a plug from under the steering wheel anywhere have you?
I know you have a fair bit of kit fitted, so was just a quick thought.

    Cheers.

    No I don't think that's the cause.

I far too often these days get the standard steering column locked message that requires a power-off then another start to get it to fire-up. However I sometimes delay pressing the brake pedal for just half a moment after pressing the start button and that seems to start the engine but suspect that procedure causes the message to persist. The engine starts so off I go, only to spot the steering locked message once moving. I've since discovered that the failure to start might be caused by attempting to start too soon after getting into the vehicle, as though the key hasn't properly registered. I'm still working at confirming the circumstances but it does seem to be somewhat tempremental.

I think I prefer my 2nd start requirement to having to get out then back in!
