Land Rover Australia should have exchange diffs available by now. The diffs replaced locally have been sent to a rebuilder so LRA can start an exchange scheme.
Check with your local dealer (or I can find out tomorrow).
I have one fo the first of the D3's to hit Aust. (Jan 05)
At 165,000kms, the rear diff is now starting to be audiable.
I am looking at either a new centre, or rebuild with a new set of bearings.
I have rung around the usual, and nobody has the parts knowledge to rebuild the diff.
I have been advised that the bearings would have to come from France !!!
My only option apart from ordering a new one here in Aus, is to order one from the UK.
Has anyone had their centre rebuilt, and are there any cheaper options?
Bearing part numbers would be great if possible.
Appreciate any assistance !!
Cheers Dave

The diff to buy brand new is relatively cheap anyway. The price has come down for some reason.
HTH.
Cheers
Okay, l contacted Craddocks & Land Rover Parts on Line in UK and cost for a new centre was na average of $1459.00 AUD landed.
I managed to secure one off our local Landrover Dealership for $1,251.00 AUD inc gst.
Not bad really, and should have by Monday.
I will be pulling down the old centre to see if l can rebuild anyway.
I will advise if this can be done, just in case someone else ends up with the same issue.
Cheers Dave

I don't know what model D3 you have so I guessed a TDV6 with non-locking diff.
LR have an exchange diffs for that model but the price is similar to your quoted price above ^^.

If you are replacing the diff anyway it is possible to retro fit the locking diff (see DISCO3.CO.UK - Dedicated to Discovery 3 and LR3 Owners and Enthusiasts ) A lot late for you now probably.
