Rhino rack cross bars / OEM roof rails

All, I have LR roof rails and purchased Rhino Rack cross bars. has anyone else tried this combination? I am finding the threaded screws supplied by Rhino (with allen "security" heads) that hold the cross bars to the rails are too long and "bite" into the base of the rails themselves. Anyone-else have the same issue before I look to shorter (non rhino) threaded screws?
    cheers

If it is just hitting a little bit, is it possible that there is a washer missing from under the bolt?

The Rhino bolts should have both a spring washer and a flat washer (both stainless) immediately under the bolt head.

    Hi Chris

I've fitted the Rhino bars (3) to the D3 with a roof top tent up top.
After a couple of trips and a few tightens of the bolts - I replaced them with stainless steel bolts that tighten with a spanner (don't over tighten) rather than an allen key which tends to get out of shape quite quickly.
Only concern putting the square bars on top of the LR rails was that it ended up a bit high once the roof top tent went on.
Nothing I could do, so I made the most of the gap underneath and installed a 1 meter x 600 poly fold down camp table at one end between 2 rails and 2 sets of maxtrax and a 100mm pvc pipe the other end (rear).
It was a bit wind noisy so I installed a second 100mm pvc pipe (to the front of the front Rhino bar) with a neoprene sock (the full width) with a (neoprene) apron attached that then velcro's to the roof - stops the noise, gives it a bit more aerodynamics and (I think) looks the part.

I read you're coming this way (Vic high country) over the Christmas break - what are your plans?

Have fun Stornoway... you'll love the Wonangatta area...one of my favourites...and I have relations up Omeo way...loads of great tracks....you could spend years up that way and just scratch the surface.
    cheers
