    Softer at offroad height?

I am sure that my D4's suspension is more supple and therefore better at offroad height than my old D3. Anybody else noticed this?

The suspension is harder in offroad height. However, if you are also in low range then the cross-link works on the suspension which has a slight softening effect. You may also have aired down which again softens the ride.

Overall there's not much in it.

RMP, What I am saying is that I am pretty sure that my D4 is softer at offroad height than my D3 in.. There is a section of a track very near my place that I have travelled hundreds of times in my D3 without the tyres aired down and in highrange.. It always felt quite stiff in offroad height . I have since done the same track in the D4 a couple of times in highrange and offroad height and the car definitely feels more supple. I'll give it another go to see if that's so or that I am imagining it!

I can't compare a D3 to a D4 but i have noticed on rough roads the D4 is more comfortable in off road height than in normal height. I put it down to the extra travel and maybe avoiding bump stop limits on some of the bumps. I wasn't in low range and not in rock crawl whcih is the only mode that activates the cross linking I believe.
