The plastic strip is held in with clips, so can be carefully prised off. The roof rails then attach via the several mounting points that will now be revealed. You can buy LR rails, or both Rhino and Rola make alternatives.

The std fuel tank should be 88 ltr. When the trip meter reads 0, you've got maybe 5 ltr left (it varies). DONT run out!! If the car starts to shudder, stop immediately, go and get fuel. It will normally self-prime and start fairly easily. But if you drive until it stops, well - "easily" is not the word I'd use.

    Cheers,

    Gordon

I have run my D3 empty twice.

    Both unplanned, just forgetfulness.

Both times I had a full long range tank.

Both times filled main from extra before proceeding.

Both times took 90 litres to refill extra tank.

Back to your question, empty means damn close.

Zero range, well I have driven for an extra 52km first time and 55km the second.
