    Roofrack

    Hi Dolphinbeserk
Lots of opinions on here about roof racks. I put on a Tracklander which allows me access to car parks . it sits very close to the roof.. It weighs half as much as other brands and I use an Oztent Rv to save the weight that a rtt would add. Leaves room for gas bottle, tyre carcass, temporary firewood etc. And of course just as quick to set up.

Lots on here like the opposite lock bull bar but it’s more expensive than your budget. Great bar though and accepts a winch. Mine has done only 305k but like you drives beautifully. Did have a coolant leak into the egr and exhaust recently so watch out for small coolant loss that can’t be tracked.
Had a fabulous time doing the Googs track with the air suspension recently; the old D2 is coming on my next trip with some mates. I suspect there will be fights to see who rides in what vehicle,

People who only use the very small Pawl inside the transmission to hold a vehicle are asking for major damage and repair bills.

EPB doesn’t mess up if it’s ADJUSTED correctly and serviced.

That's a very good point. I hadn't considered how the trans park works:
I just looked up parking pawl (wikipedia) and I see exactly what you mean - it's just a ratchet on a cog.

And in general, I guess it would be better to use and service something and keep it working that to let it sit (and possibly seize over time).

    Thank you Tombie

Goog Track looks like red dirt fun and great scenery - do you use IID or Nanocom to lift the air sus, or just standard settings?
It would be interesting to hear how the D2 and D4 go in comparison on your next trip - although there are many variables (tyres, lift, load) other than axle type.
I just had a quick look at the Tracklander and it has the nice low profile I am looking for. I will consider it as an option,
and the Oztent RV series looks like another fast tent option to consider alongside RTT and the I can see why the OL BB would be good choice - thank you for these suggestions.

That's a very useful tip on the coolant - EGR/Exh leak, which I will keep in mind when monitoring coolant levels.

    Thank you Squanderer

When you do use it..press / pull the button to put on / off. Try not to “drive through”. The car automatically disengages the EPB if you accelerate..this tends to wear down quicker..meaning more frequent adjustments.

But..every service (10-13k kms) check and adjust

    Welcome to the permagrin club..

    Hi Dolphinbeserk

I have LLAMS-just rotate a knob-needed it on the sandier bits coming over crests. Much easier than fiddling with a GAP tool (for me, anyway).

Exactly. Or better yet, multiple threads for the multiple separate queries.

sorry to be late, more hospital, was easy, first remove the balance weights from the inside of the rim, then using the FLAT of a 3M 5 inch wheel remove material from the huge extra mass of the caliper, these are lumps i suspect are for cooling for those on Autobahns braking from 100mph plus, heavily.
with a lifetime in engineering i can see i have removed zero rigidity,
I 've yet to rebalance the wheels, but the car tracks, feels ok at 120km/h
when i recover some grunt, i will take a wheel off, send you a pic, as i said i have 3 sets now, 18,19 20, the 20s are shiny black , came with it, pirelli ATM , the 19s are a mixture of 255 x 55 brand , from Marketplace the 18s i took off of my TDV6 2010 have Coopers 20km on em

All was tidied up afterwards and smoothed
