Sort of - and pointing out that the 255/60R18 size is quite legal in Qld, as is the 265/60R18. Both of which give you greater sidewall depth, greater choice and cheaper tyres than the 255/55R19 size.

Are you referring to the multiple choices in ATR tyres, of which I am replacing with the MTR's as they did not perform as well as I had hoped?

The only MTR tyres listed and I checked believe me before I went ahead with the 19's were all 2" + oversize. I even contacted most of the manufacturers to confirm as like in a previous post you cannot trust websites

If you are looking at 18's on a D4, if I am not mistaken will only fit the 2.7 Diesel not the 3L or V8? But that is for another thread!

Anyway

I have bought the tyres along with Pawky and if he is as happy as I am he will be delighted

Yes, the choices I listed earlier are all AT, not MT tyres. Of course, there are a lot of AT choices in 18" that you don't have in 19", but if you really want MT's, then it's either oversize 18's or the Goodyear MTR in 19's.

Nice two wheel tire carrier their Gary. My tire of choice. If you have to go with 19 inch rims then I would suggest the Pirelli Scorpion ATR.

I have tried them all over and while they might not be bad on gravel roads and in the dry, put them on wet grass or any form of mud they are hopeless.

I near crashed my Disco when towing my camper trailer, it had been raining and we were heading down a mild slope in two ruts (the one the farmer uses in his ute) no rocks just wet dirt and it just lost it. I vowed then to change them for something that would grip better

In saying that I am looking at getting another two as I have two brand new ones that were on the carrier and will use them as road tyres only

I've just picked up this thread, so for what it's worth, I've just returned to Broome from a trip up the Gibb River Rd and various side tracks on 255/55/19 Goodyears on my 2010 RRS 3.0 and they were brilliant in all circumstances. Lots of rock hopping, mud, fast gravel, slow gravel, creek crossings etc, all towing a camper trailer....no complaints, and the one flat we had was a stone in the tread, not the side wall, and it was my fault anyway. Going too fast and didn't slow up enough before hitting that floodway.
Got them last year from Barbagallo in Perth, $495 fitted and balanced.

But I dont know if they're Kevlar sides or not...

Thanks for the update Greg - having done the same as you and invested in Barbagallo "sale" (!) last year its great to hear some feedback on the tyres. They aren't the Kevlar ones - but they seem very good.
