You're in a good location for snow runs. There's several less than half an hour from Eildon.
Hello gents,
Thought it be time I said hello and send out a big thank you to the regular D3/D4/RRS posters on here. The information you guys share (provide) was pivotal in my decision to buy our first LR product.
I started shopping around in March 2010 (when I joined up here) for a 'family truck' to replace a VW Passat we had for the past three years. We lived in the CBD for two of those years and made the move to Alexandra/Lake Eildon last year. We do a bit of towing and trips down to Melbourne now and then so decided it was time for something more comfortable, capable and well, awesome.
I must say my dealings with the dealers was about 80% positive, so I call that a win, Especially helpful was MLR, though sadly didn't purchase from there. Even the salesman said my price I ended up with was too good not to take up. The D4 HSE came from Blacklocks, about the same distance from our place as MLR was. The car was ordered in August with a scheduled delivery date of February 11th, it was handed over to me on February 12th, a very good, no hassle transaction. Another major win!
So far, 1400kms down, the car is impeccable. I've added LLAMS height adjustment and Scorpion ATR's on the 19" wheels. Also have a set of 20" RRS wheels with 275/45 20's with Conti CrossContacts for the bitumen. (Need to sell the 5 Wranglers if anyone is interested?) The kids love the car, as does the wife. As they say... 'Happy wife, happy life'.
Again, thanks for the great info and general well behaved banter, must be something to do with well educated and mannered English car owners.

Welcome to the LR fraternity - you are certainly in the right part of Victoria for some great drives ... we have friends who live at Barwite and we use their house as our base for trips around the Mt Buller area ... miles of tracks and some wonderful camping spots too.
Enjoy your new toy ... and don't forget to post some pics for us to drool over.
cheers
Thanks gents (and Mrs Ho Har)
It is a great spot up here, part of the reason I guess to get the D4 was to make this part of the world more accessible.
Hi Graeme, Yes it is me (Andrew) that emailed you the Q. I grabbed the alternate dial knob from Jaycar that you recommended, it does match well with the others on the dash.
I'll pop some pics up over the next weekend

						Hi Andrew,
I've been thinking I might provide that different knob (Jaycar part HK7740)once the current ones have been used-up. It gets close to the LED and requires an Allen key or small flat screw-driver to tighten the screw but does match the D4 knobs quite well, looking less of an add-on. Maybe I should fit one too!

Hello Emilysdad,
Welcome to the forum.
When you get a moment, can you please write some first hand experiences with the Pirelli ATR's. Such as noise compared to the OEM GY's, handling on the bitumen (dry and wet), any off-roading you may have used them for, etc...
I'm keen to know for future reference when considering AT tyre options in the 19"
Thanks Chris
Hi PCH,
I have had the ATR's on for about 20K now and are very happy with them. Great in the wet, on road and mild off road. Having said that, I went to visit a fellow AULRO member on the weekend out off gravel roads.
He mentioned not to take the track road home unless I had my MTR's on.
I took the risk with the ATR's and did the track anyway.
To my suprise, I made it through no worries with minimal slipage. I think that they would clog up with wet clay reasonably quick, but what AT tyre wouldn't?
Cheers, Craig
Craig,
Glad you got through! Can't have been as wet as I thought.. ATRs must be pretty good
