    D4 Ipod Charging

    Hi All,

Just got a new Nano. Was dismayed after driving all day to hear an American voice come over my sound system, "Low Battery" or words to that effect.

My D4 has the premuim sound system, it's fantastic that you can see and select on the screen and use the steering wheel controls.

But it won't recharge the device???? What's with that? My kid's $20 dollar clock radio Ipod connection recharges his device.

    Is that normal?

    Cheers,

    Kev.

    D4 Ipod Charging

    Hi Celtoid,
not sure that this helps, but I too have premium sound, and an iPhone 4, which charges fine, but it does come up with a message when connected to indicate that the device (read in car system) is not optimised, but all works fine, and charges quite happily. My childrens Ipod Touch (latest versions) also charge and play quite happily.

There must be some other incompatibility with the Nano.
Not an answer but hopefully gives you an indication of what does/does not work.

I think (having read it cover to cover recently) it says in the manual that Nano is not a supported device. All other ipods are. Has something to do with the pin setup being different on the nano compared to the rest of the range.

    Thanks guys.

Between myself and my kids we have three....and fortunately we have an in-car charging kit that runs off the power outlets.

So in theory we can survive by changing out between charges, as my son has similar musical taste to me....but should it only be myself and my daughter......OMG, let me go and kill myself before I listen to Mylie Cyrus......

    Cheers,

    Kev.

I actually brought it for my Mini but all iPods seem to work ok in the Mini. When the D4 came along it found a new home there.
