Well when I got the D3 I thought this is a really nice vehicle, runs circles around the D2a HSE on comfort, power, smoothness, stereo, etc etc.
I can remember driving home after picking it up thinking I'm going to really enjoy this Disco.
I must admit I did not take into account what the wife would think of it compared to her belovered SsangYong Rexton she normally drives compared to the D2a which she is not fond of. I foolishly thought the same would happen with the D3 and I would be safe.
So as of today I have not driven the D3 for over a week as Gloria gets up earlier then I do each day to go to work and when I get out to where the cars are parked I find the D3 gone and I'm left with the choice of either the Rexton or the D2, now I still really enjoy the D2 its a good vehicle but I didn't expect that I'd lose the D3. This has never happened with any of the other vehicles I have ever brought since we have been together.
Such is life I quess. I might have to start saving for another D3 so I can have one that I can actually drive as well.
cheers,
Terry
Think of the D2 as the last of the Discovery trucks and enjoy the character as such. Mine is a manual which makes that easier, but you get the idea

SubscriberYep, my better half insisted my beloved D2 manual was a truck and that if I wanted a 4WD we had to upgrade to a D4... at least I'm getting fit from all the walking I do these days...
PS Ean - friends of mine did the Anne Beadell a couple of years back in their hilux - they didn't see much over the scrub for 10 days, and lost both their side mirrors into the bargain... My Dad in his Oka, on the other hand...
My wife loves driving our D3 - I have to get up early in the morning to keep tabs on it .... otherwise I get left with "her" Honda.
Thats why I bought my better half a new Freelander II
She dont touch the D3 now

Sounding very familiar, but in my case it is her "Mini", indeed yesterday I suggested that as for the last 2 years I drive the mini more often we should swap keys as my key does not have the autolock/unlock buttons for some reason ?
But that also fell on deaf ears, oh well I do like seeing it parked in the garage, and occasionally I get to take it off road.
