I was just looking at the Silent Armour's on the web site.

They are load rated at 109. The requirement for 18's on the D4 is 112. Would this lower than spec load rating cause an issue with an insurance claim?

    Jesse,
I can now see from your photos that the Goodyears are more aggressive.
When I looked at them on the web, they didn't appear that aggressive.
Looks like a pretty good choice.

    Cheers, Craig

I took the perspective quoted by rmp in the "Tyre placard" thread - that the minimum allowable rating was the lowest listed on the placard (irrelevant of size) - being 109. This was also the minimum allowable for the D3, and while as Robert pointed out this catch-all statement appears to have vanished with the D4 it still helped make me feel comfortable that my choice would stand up well enough.

From a purely practical perspective my only insurance claim ever was in 1975 (roo strike) and I know it's tempting fate but I'm not proposing to break this sequence any time soon. And in any case, the only issue could be if the claim were to come about because of a blown tyre that could be sheeted back to overloading (highly unlikely in my case) - that is, if the logic of my first para does not hold up!

    Thanks for the feedback.

I am looking at the Continental ContiCrossContactâ„¢ AT tyres for my D4. But your positive report on the Goodyear's made me reconsider that.

I will be towing a big heavy van so for me at least the higher load rating might be a better choice.

    Hi mowog.
LR don't differentiate between towing and not. Therefore the LR load rating is appropriate for a D4 towing 3500kg with a towball load up to 350kg.

    Best Wishes,
    Peter

    My rims arrived today...

I am going for Continental tyres for my rims. Not sure when I will get it done but it has to be before May.

Put the silent armies on today: the rims and tyres really complement the car.
First impresions of the SA are good; quieter than the wranglers they replaced and nice ride.
    Cheers,
    Peter

Late review of the tires and rims.
    Have mine on order.
But a question from left field.
What is your Roo Bar brand?.
Its looks very neat and tidy.
