Is it time for a wheel & tyre subsection within the d3 forum

A question for the moderators perhaps and for the sake of it I have added a poll as well so a consensus of opinion can be shown.

The issue of what wheel / tyre will fit or is good comes up sooooo regularily in here and whilst it is covered in the faq the questions keep reappearing.

So is it worth adding a subsection in the D3/D4/RRS forum just for chatter on wheels and tyres?

    Missing a voting option.
No - The FAQ is where the facts can be summarised and the general D3/D4 section is fine for discussion.

So I vote no, but as above.

This whole tyre thing on D3/4's is a bit of a pain trying to figure out what is best for what and what fits and what doesn't. I agree with Trobbo that there needs to be sticky to get this info in one place and have ongoing discussions.

I was just about to put up a thread about 17's and mud terrains. Having just done a little off road driving for the first time on the weekend and deciding that I wll not put all terrains on my 18's.

I have decided that I will get a second set of wheels (17's) and more then likely Muds.

If this was all in one area it would make things so much easier I reckon and stop the repeated same questions.

    cheers,
    Terry

I have voted yes, but perhaps we should have a tyre/wheel channel to cover all vehicles, rather than one specific to D3's & 4's. I note that a lot of forums have wheel/tyre queries, and most sites have a separate area for such queries.

well it seems that tyre discussion and repeated questions are still dominating this forum with 7 of the threads on the first page dedicated to tyres so I would be interested in seeing the results if a few more people voted.

I voted yes, based on the fact that the tyre selection for these vehicles is quite different (and more difficult) than for other Land Rover models.

    Cheers,

Look at the end of the day, a healthy discussion on tyre selection for your vehicle is great.
Further research on suggested options can be a great tool in making decisions on an expensive purchase.
It may assist also in providing suitable feedback on tyre quality and durability of specific makes and types,
that may not match up to be a viable option for future vehicles requirements.
A sticky section on tyres would be an easy summary for all to refer, based on the D3/D4 & RRS range.
    Cheers Dave
