    Awesome Mungus looks great.

I'm jealous you have a hoist, that's on my list as well.

You did a good job with the cover plate

I took mine back to Coldys yesterday and asked the to fit on cover plate and they refused, said that ARB doesn't want the solenoid box fitted to cover plate as you can't see the rope if it binds up on winch, they want you to have full view of what the winch is doing, makes sense ❓

I never asked these questions but the fact it was fitted by a retailer I'm sure it would be covered.

I'll cross that bridge if I ever get to it

That's a bit of a cop out excuse for not wanting to do the job I think Babs. Take a look at the previous ARB bar and winch as advertised.

That's what they told me when I said the same thing as Mungus, they told me the other bull bars have two cut outs you can see through.

Two cut outs, there's about twenty in the grill panel. Winching safety none on none hey; stand directly in front of your vehicle as close to the rope as possible, so you can see the spool while winching 3t of vehicle.
    Cheers, Mungus.

Ha ha ha I see your point.

But I don't think that's what they have in mind, synthetic rope binds unlike steel cable, having such a big opening gives you full view. You might want to pause winching to have a quick glance through the top to see all is o., It wouldn't be as quick to try and look through the grille section in these circumstances.

As much as I would prefer to have the cover plate fitted, there is some sense to their design and as easy as it would be to relocate the solenoid box onto the cover plate, I think I have just convinced myself to leave it be

So far the way it looks doesn't bother me, if that ever changes I can always make the change.

What did bother me was the gap on the side where bar matches flare.

You could see white panel and black plastic through the gap.

I went out and bought some different foams to fit in there but they all looked terrible.

Then yesterday afternoon I came up with a brainstorm idea, to paint it. So I sprayed plastidip in there and Hey Presto it solved the problem.

Looking at the bar side on now just looks blacked out in the gap.

A bit of advice if anyone wants to do the same, paint the inner panels with proper paint before the bar goes on. I did plastidip because that's what I had on hand and it got on the lights, bar and flare in the process but the good thing is it peels straight off.

In hindsight I should have waited and painted it with real paint and an artist's paint brush for a more long term solution.

So I was feeling the extra weight. Mainly thought heavier steering and a little heavier whilst braking. Checked tyre pressure. Still felt it, not much, but enough to let me know I had just added 90kgs over the front. Added Bar (110kgs Bar and Winch) 20kgs of stuff that stayed off. Certainly something that would fade with time, so as a compromise for protection and winch I was still very happy with the vehicle... and then today; I got my easy as pie power steering and lightness back.

It's just what the doctor ordered, at this time; new rims and rubber. I don't notice the bar anymore.

Fitted the isolator switch today to the winch, seen as the guys who fitted the winch didn't do it.

I wasn't comfortable having constant power to the winch, all I needed for a disaster was one of my kids to get the wireless remote out of the glove box and start pressing buttons.

I'm not happy where input it but I was limited by the short lead that goes from bat terminal to isolator.

It now sits on top of the auxiliary battery.

I will source another cable and relocate it to the side of the washer bottle.
