Retro Fitting the Touch Screen Display, e-Diff and Phone controls
Retro Fitting the Touch Screen Display, e-Diff and Phone controls
		Hi All,
I have been doing some thinking about how I want to modify my SE Petrol D3, it may well have been cheaper to option up 2 years ago though when I bought it.
I have seen some posts and links on the forum about retrofitting the phone controls to make the radio function as the phone with the controls on the steering wheel. I am giving this some very serious consideration.
I also have checked out the e-Diff retro fitting link on disco3.co.uk and think that it could possibly be done, but again the cost needs to be determined before going down this route.
My main issue though is if I was to do these mods then I would like to also fit the genuine Touch Screen Display to the alcove in the centre of the dash. Does anyone know the part numbers and indicative costs involved as I would like to be able to use the display as it was planned to when installed new.
To pre-empt anyone's thoughts of "what a looney", no I don't have more money than sense but am planning on some very serious upgrades over time, to the car as I am keeping it until either it or I pop off the perch, hopefully a very long time in the future.
Waiting with bated breath - so over to you.
Cheers
Dom

well, i've been wondering this too. So I'm ordered an original screen from the UK, and we'll take it from there.
i know functions like 4x4 info can be unlocked with the MCV 2 faultmate..
Guess we'll see.......
Hi Doddsy,
Keep us in the loop. If it works for you I will get one and install it as well.
Cheers

in an added twist, after reading your post i did some research on the e-diff.
the uk disco3.co.uk site has quite a few articles. It has the picture on the e-diff actuator ontop of the rear diff. Apparently it is the only way to tell for sure you have it.
So i had a look under my beast, and there it sits atop the diff housing !
Sweet...
Clearly worth checking for, I bought my d3 at a RR dealer and he had no idea it was on there..
here's the link..
have a look

Gotta love these forums..
Some SE's were shipped with the "heavy duty package" as LR refers to it. This would include the rear e-diff / locking rear diff. If you kept your original specifications page the car was delivered with, it would be listed there as well. Luckily I had to foresight to know I wanted it at the time of purchase.
It has been retrofitted into vehicles that it did not come with, it's a big project, due to wiring loom considerations. You can find a how to on the same disco site. Discussion link on the subject of retro fitting is here.. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic52473.html
I can supply a diff with 12mo unlimited mileage warranty should the need arise (or parts to rebuild your diff)
G'day
