Sorry, can't help you there... never been under the bonnet of one.
Gas injection should handle it easily but it will have to be a emmission certified kit to do it. My wholesaler has only done a V8.

My question would be how dows the V8 go on gas. Have you got a direct injection system, what sort of distance out of a tank, and did it affect your clearance when you go 4WDing.

I run a V8 4.4 RRS on gas, did a few words on it here.

Anyone running Liquid LPG on their D3?

I can't tell you what tank the wholesaler supplied, he can't remember. As for the front end, that's Zavoli vapour sequential injection. This brand has been very good on other vehicles I have personally converted, eg P38, and Toyota prado 4.0 V6. No power loss when properly set up.

Thats good. I'm about to buy a D3 and i am debating what to get. I like the idea of the increase in fuel capacity and the cost doesnt hurt much either. I would love to hear from owners who have done the conversion and how it went. Both V6 and V8 but I would prefer the 8. I guess i am tossing up between the diesel and the V8. Havent had a gas car for 20 years and i know the technology has changed a lot. Just wondering how it goes in a modern engine like the D3's

Thanks to everyone in advance for theire help and replies.

I bought a 2005 V6 D3 already on gas from Deacons in 2009 at 120k km, now with 155k km on the clock. It is a BRC system with individual gas injectors, very neatly installed with a donut tank in the spare wheel well and a swing away spare mounted on the rear bumper. I have run it on gas all the time and had no probs to speak of. As a bit of a test I went out to Wilcannia early this year by the back roads and had no probs getting gas outback either. Of course there was always 90 litres of petrol as backup. The system starts the car on petrol when cold and automatically switches to gas when up to temperature. This means the petrol tank needs topping up periodically, for me it's about once a quarter and that's when I appreciate the difference in fuel prices! I get about 250 km to a 40 litre fill around town and up to 300 km on the highway. A typical fill costs around $30 depending on current prices (and they don't jump around on an hourly basis like petrol). So I am very happy with the whole thing... The economics may or may not make sense to an accountant, the cost per km is about the same as running a diesel (I traded in a D2 TD5 on the D3), but nothing beats the warm fuzzy feeling when paying $30 to fill the tank! Also, James Deacon charges about $6000 for the conversion which I did not have to pay for so that is a big consideration (but diesel powered vehicles usually cost about that much more to buy anyway so these initial costs are equivalent and our generous government will give you a rebate for gas, currently around $1500 I think). So my advice is: go for it.
