Dumbo questions from a new D4 owner

Well my 2,7 TDV6 D4 has finally arrived, and fabulous it is. I haven't had it seriously off road yet, but on road it is brilliant. Much as I love my Jag, I have to say the D4 is quieter, smoother, rides and handles better, is faster and more economical. And it can take me to more interesting places than the Jag.

But I have a couple of questions please.

    1. In the owners book it states that the car can be unlocked just by touching a door handle with the key in my pocket, but it doesn't. Is this an option that needs to be specified, or is it something that can be set up by the owner?

    2. I had an ARB bullbar fitted at purchase. I fancy that there is a sort of low frequency drumming when a wheel hits a bump that I don't recall in the test car I drove, and I am wondering if this could be caused by the heavy bullbar? Has anyone else observed this slight impact drumming, with or without a bullbar?

    Thanks everyone,

    Cheers,

    Paul

I think the key thing is an option and standard on an HSE..As for the drumming, I think I read another post somewhere of somebody complaining about the same thing. Can't remember where though.
I had no such problem on my D3 but haven't ( and maybe won't) fitted a bar to my D4.

As I keep telling my staff, "No such thing as a Dumb Question, just Dumb People who don't ask questions!"

Can't tell you about the door as I have a D3 which has ordinary remote keys.

RMP has the figures but the ARB bar does not work out a lot heavier than the original bumper etc that is removed to fit it, the suspension is self leveling, so the weight of the bar should not matter.

Maybe take the bar back to the fitter & make sure everything is tight, spring washered & in the correct position.
ARB, in my experience, are good with after sales service.

    Keyless Entry

The "Keyless Entry" is an option which as I understand it needs to be specified at time of order (fatory fit option) $995 at last price list I had when ordering my D4 and is also not standard on HSE.

    Hi Wilbur,
Yes, keyless entry is an option, it will have little buttons on the outside door handles for locking.
    Congrats on the new wheels,
Hope your face isn't too sore from the permagrin
    Cheers Ken
Expect to see photos in the pimp your ride section soon

Thanks everyone for the replies. Thanks Kredstall, for the price - at $995 I don't feel too bad about not selecting it as an option.....

Jonesfam, the bar was fitted and painted by the dealer - it seems that ARB couldn't match the colour - Ipanema Sand - so sent the bar bare to the dealer. It looks good, but I hope there is nothing funny in the fitting.

And yes Ken, perma-grin there is! I reckon thses cars will go down in history as another watershed of design, along with such dignitries as the original mini, the E type Jag and the Range Rover. They really are just way past anything that came before. My road to home still looks as corrugated as ever, but you wouldn't know it by driving on it!

    Cheers all,

    Paul

I just picked up my new 3.0 TDV6 D4 today - yep - still grinning. I actually ordered a 2.7 initially and phoned back the next morning and "upgraded" my order after sleeping on the decision. I have only put just over 100 kms on it so far but the smoothness torque is stunning. I hadn't driven the 3.0 before I ordered it, but had done a long test drive in the hills in the 2.7. I couldn't fault the 2.7 - it was one of the smoothest cars I have driven for a while, bar none. I just decided overnight that I didn't want to spend the next 5 years regretting not having more passing power.

I will also have some stupid questions, I just haven't thought of them yet.

    Cheers

Well done Al & congratulations on becoming the proud owner of a D4.
The 3.0Lt was a good choice. You will soon forget about the extra $.
    Enjoy, Craig

Can all you D4 owners please keep it down a bit... starting to get woozy with envy.

    Congratulations all round though!
