    D4 Tow Hitch on a D3?

A friend dropped in on the weekend. He has just purchased a D3. It has the D3 "plough" tow hitch. He wants to get rid of it. We then thought we would try my D4 hitch in his D3. It just plugged straight in as if it was made for it.

Does anyone know if this is a safe option? Can D3 owners simply buy a D4 hitch? Any ideas on price?

    Yes,
Plugs straight in, the only difference from the plough is that a part of the Z configuration has been removed. Thank CaverD3 for that as he liased with the "boffins" at LRA in an attempt to remedy the idiocy of the original plough design for Australian conditions.

I cannot honestly recall the price of the D4 hitch, but I do believe it was in excess of $400.00. If you had one given to you fair enough, but otherwise I think the Mitchell Bros hitch is a better deal, and a neater fit. ( but yes, still better than the original plough )

Truimph spares have an old D3 hitch ( old, even comes with mud ) at $495. The Mitch hitch looks a pretty good option against that !!

Thanks all for the info. I will let my friend know that he has teh option of a Mitch or D4 hitch for his D3. He can work it out from there.

I'm the one with the Mitchell Bros hitch for sale in the Market Place. http://www.aulro.com/apc/showproduct...uct/5468/cat/8

It is used but used only once to tow our Kimberely Karavan (now sold). The rest of the time it was mounted and not used so I took it off a few weeks ago after selling our van.

It's all in tact with nylon bush and ready for towing duties.

The reason why I'm selling it is that I have no use for it anymore and I've ordered a D4 with a slightly better plough design which would be suitable for any towing I may need to do in the future.

PM me or call me on 0411 235 397

    Chris
