Thread: 2012 D4

Apparently it's the euro 5 emission spec tht has the 8 speed ZF auto. I was reading a brief review on it in a British mag today, they gave it the thumbs up. They reckon it makes what is an excellent tow vehicle even better!

I think Aus moves to Euro 5 spec next year, so maybe we may get them towards the end of this year.

Checked with my local dealer 2 weeks ago, and it sounds like 2014 at the earliest. Settled for a defender 90 for the mean time :P. The D4 also comes with a turn knob to change gears, like the RRS.

LRA will not be putting it on as they don't have to (emmisions regs in Oz are behind) and the eight speed would cost them more.
Only when Oz moves to new Euro emmisions standards will they be forced to do so.

The 2012 D4 has...

* 8spd auto box.
* Flappy paddles.
* 20ps increase in power.
* New key fob.

The Terrain Response selector is now a toggle switch, not the rotary selector.

The gear selector pops up when the engine is RUNNING, not just when the Ign is on. Also, if you are driving using 'Command Shift', then set the selector in 'S' otherwise it drops back to auto after a period of time.

You can also do natty little things like raise & lower the car using the key fob (IIRC you could only lower the car previously).

Yep....none of that on my D4 2012....just some minor changes and additions from the 2011 model.

Interestingly though, the manual refers to the Australian 2012 model, but with 188kw as opposed to 180kw. It's also printed under the bonnet as 188kw.

I can increase or decrease height with key fob now with my D4....maybe they added this to the Aus version already.

I can do it with my D3. (engine on and hazards on)
