I thought it definitely was one of the options available for disablement Graeme? Again, it says this in the Owner's Manual, so I reckon they were telling you Porkies, or well it "couldn't be done" because they didn't know how, or didn't want to(lazy, etc.).

Also, don't you have a Faultmate anyway, or have I got you confused?

It's just with the towing mirrors we have, I can't have them folding, and I REALLY don't want more new mirrors

    Les.

Sneigy tried but couldn't stop them folding, I think after having done the initial setup. Hmm, folding mirrors not good with towing mirrors attached! If I can get some time to use my van I'd want the same, now that you mention it. Yes, I have a Faultmate and I would expect to be able to stop them folding with that even if LR's tool couldn't do it.

Here's the relevant page as downloaded from Topix.
The important bit is the footnote at the end.

Confirmed again today that ULR & MLR cannot disable the automatic powerfold function of the mirrors by software, however MLR(Melbourne LR Port Melbourne) have been adding switches to each of the doors to disable the power to the fold motor & stop it that way. I will be getting more info on that tomorrow ...

Also confirmed that (reportedly)due to the Australian build criteria, they cannot enable the Global Close option ...

    Regards,

    Les.

One of Sniegy's lads at MLR disabled the mirror fold today whilst I waited(a temporary wire cut in the door) until I book it in to have some switches fitted in the tweeter housings so the powerfold can be switched on & off in each door.

for Chris(Peirce I think?), the Service Manager at MLR after far less satisfactory service from their sister dealership ULR where I bought the car.

    Les.

I'll have to check whether Faultmate can or cannot disable them and if it can, maybe someone with a multi-vehicle licence can make the changes for a small fee. Cutting wires and fitting switches seems a crude way to overcome a diagnostic tool software inadequacy. I suppose its fuse powers some important other feature but am surprised the mirror's electrical connector can't just be unplugged.

Well, Faultmate doesn't show mirrors folding on locking as an option at all, so it seems that either LR forgot to put such a parameter in the CCF or the T4 programmers forgot to include the parameter and BBS have used T4 as their reference, so miss out too.

    Graeme,

I've got the ciruit diagram & there's an awful lot of wiring to each mirror!
It is unfortunately the best/easiest way/option to break only the "fold in" wire. Also it allows an easy(& instant) enable/disable anytime, which software would not.

Aparently they have even tried changing the vehicles config file to another region, but even that cannot be done. The vehicle won't accept another region & is somehow hard coded for it's destination market.

    Regards,

    Les.

T4 will often set a number of options by region whereas Faultmate can change each option individually so can do things that T4 can't. However when the option isn't listed at all, it seems to me that the option has not been implemented somewhere. I understand that the D4 CCF changed a lot from the D3 so its quite possible it hasn't been implemented properly yet, perhaps in T4 only but maybe in the CCF as well.
