Unfortunately I think it is a case of removing the door liners to remove the tweeter housing/covers, although I guess the door liners have to come off anyway to do the wiring!

What I did see the guys in the workshop doing was the bit where they remove the inside door handle "chrome" trims which cover two main liner screws. These chrome covers are a Royal PITA and extremely difficult to get off whilst remaining in one piece!

Sorry, but that's the only advice I can give here so far.

Can you post up a pic of the switches you got & where from Graeme?

    Regards,

    Les.

I was hoping the plastic cover would just unclip.

    Here's the $2.25 Jaycar SK0960 switch.

I wanted to stop the mirrors from folding because they creaked when folding due to lack of lubrication, so set the mirror spec to "fitted" rather than "logic..." and set the blinkers to flash as the lock/unlock visual indication. Now the mirrors don't fold when locking but can still be folded with the buttons, even though I thought this didn't work initially. Its not a user-friendly solution especially if a Faultmate isn't on hand but as I haven't fitted switches yet, it may become my permanent solution.

I have since seen information that the tweeter corner cover does indeed just unclip, BUT I have not confirmed this by trying myself! Also, you would still need to get into the door liner possibly for the wire they modify.

It seems that the D3 tweeter housings unclip at the top from the door but they are securely attached to the door card so I suspect the D4's are too. Anyway, with my mirrors mechanisms getting full of dust I'd rather they not fold when the car is locked, even if that's only a couple of times a week.

    Back on topic...

Today I tried the golbal closing... and it worked

It was definately not working from new and I have tried to activate it (faultmate) without success, but now it works??

This is my second D4 and on the first one it would not work until after the first service, and the software updates. I haven't had this one serviced yet, so it may be some sort of strange time delay/learning thing?

But like the first one it will not global close on the first press, you need to push the button twice and hold it down on the second press till the windows close...

    Try it?

I have a 2011 D4 3.0 and enquired at the 1st service to turn on the global closing. The global opening works as it should.

They basically said no as it was a safety issue. I say that's BS unless you intend on locking your kids in the car. My 2010 Freelander 2 had global closing too.

I wasn't aware I could adjust the windows with my Faultmate, ill give it a go.

    Rob
