    Scary-good-sick sound!

The separate USB connection will charge my wifes HTC phone.

Not sure what you mean but I don't have that niggle. I have 2012 and my iPod works fine starting and stopping the car. Track you were playing starts off at the exact place you were at when you switched off. In the three years I've had it, the system has got horribly confused on just couple of occasions after I've taken a phone call and I had to switch off stereo, re boot iPod but it has been pretty much perfect.

FYI I have a classic iPod in the car plugged in at all times for music. My iphone charges on the other usb connects via Bluetooth and is not used as an iPod in the car, just as a phone.

When hard wired, can browse music collection via console screen and steering wheel controls, it also charges the iPod/ phone. Good system but not perfect. This is exactly the system that I have in mine - but like James, I also don't have any problem with having to unplug/replug the iPod when I switch off an re-start the car. My iPod lives in the car these days and is never unplugged. I've had no problems with the system at all (and the iPod is always fully charged on the odd occasion that I do remove it from the vehicle).

The USB port next to the iPod port in the cubby can also be used to charge other mobile phones if you have the correct cable - have done this more than once.
    Cheers .........

    Does that sound right?
Yes - you can do it that way. I use a Jaycar twin USB power adapter - has one 2.1A USB and one 1A, which suits my needs.

    Then I use this cable:

    Mine too

My MY10 is the same as BMKal's and others.

it charges the Ipod classic but wont charge an Iphone 4 but will play the music from an Iphone 4, I think you can buy an adaptor from the apple to charge the phone but I only use it for my Ipod. it always stays connected no need to plug it in each time.

Must admit I've never attempted to charge an iPhone using this connection. My iPhone 5 sits in a dash cradle that has its own power supply and also connects to the aerial on the bulbar. Phone connectivity with the vehicle stereo / phone control system is wireless, regardless of whether the phone's in its cradle or in my pocket.

We have charged other phones using the USB connector in the cubby box though. Have plugged both the wife's Blackberry and a work colleague's Samsung in there and both have charged without problem. Don't know if you can charge an iPhone from this connection.
    Cheers .........

I run my iPod through one USB and charge my iPhone 5 with the other one.
