    12MY D4 diesel

G'day, just traded my MY08 HSE D3 on a new 12MY. I pull in to the servo and find no longer can I use the hi-flow pump as the filler neck has shrunk significantly. Can we replace this with the other filler neck without too much pain? I hate standing at the pump waiting for the liquid to slowly make it's way out ..?

It might be a bit ex-stream for you but... I fixed this issue by fitting a Long Ranger Aux fuel tank.

I read somewhere that if you hold the highflow pump at the right angle you can still use one but maybe not at full flow.

I'm yet to try but like you have gone from a D3 to D4 and am a bit disappointed with this "improvement".

I've only filled my D4 once so far . It will be due for another fill soon

The reason behind this is because of the Diesel Mis-Fueling devise that is fitted to the entire Diesel range in the Discovery 4 range.
May not please everyone, but is a damn good device.

    elsey

I have successfully use Hi-flow pumps a few times when filling my D4 without any dramas. You just can't stick the nozzle down the hole and as Pete said the narrow throat is to prevent mis-fuelling. It could save you lots of $$$$$$$$$s one day.

I may not have the miss-fueling device any more. When I refuel I always start with the Aux tank first. At least if I make a mistake its in the aux tank and I can still drive to a place to drain the tank.

So far touch wood... I haven't even picked up an ULP nozzle. I am a little more careful about this because I have 2 Mini's one is Diesel the other a Cooper S that runs on PULP.

There is no risk of the wife doing a miss-fuel because she simply will not put fuel in any of the cars.

My local servo only has the 1 diesel bowser and it has a large nozzle. I initially wanted to change the D4's filler neck but don't give it a 2nd thought now. Its not an ultra fast pump at only about 1 litre per second and needs to be slowed after about 60 litres from close to empty.

    Update on MY12 problems

G'day my 12MY is 8000k's old. Here's a list of problems for anybody interested. Hasn't been in the shop yet but - it will be there a while when it gets there.
    1. Complete electronic shutdown at random including Bluetooth, Audio, Navigation but not dash electrics.
    2. Drivers door pillar working loose.
    3. Smart key not found consistently.
    4. Passanger seat base comes apart / adrift.
    5. Wiper sensors not acurate.
    6. Diff (torque) thump at low speeds
    7. Idle missing when stationary and air con on.
    8. Push button accessory unavailable without all dash lights on
    9. Sunroof leaks into headlining overhead light console
    10. Navigation randomly displays Route Confirmed Obey Traffic ... message regardless of mode.

    Sick of these.

Hopefully the dealer will sort out your problems. My only problems after 90,000Klm's have been electrical.

    Cheers, Craig
