    Disco 3 no terrain mode

    Hi there.
Im looking at a D3, the one im about to put an offer in on doesn't have the terrain mode control, only hi and low range. Do those models still have center diff lock or do they just rely on the traction control. I will be needing to tow the boat on the beach, is it worth only looking at the discos with the terrain mode?? or these Diso's till capable off road?
    thanks
    heaps
    Christian

That's the old S model and you'll be missing out on a lot more that TR. It won't have air suspension, bi-xenon's and other niceties. I'd be looking for an SE if I were you. Having said that, the S was a capable vehicle from what I've read.

There're no diff locks whatsoever. The ABS applies to reduce
wheel spin , but it's not the same. There were few S models
imported , and they were $10,000 less than the SE , so adjust your
offer accordingly ! When was this D3 made ?

It still has the active centre diff to apportion more drive to the front or rear when required but cannot have an active rear diff.

Ground clearance is pretty ordinary and will need a lift if any serious offroad work is contemplated.

If towing on the beach is the hardest thing you need/want to do a coil sprung D3 should do fine. No air suspension means no auto-level and so you may need to look at your tow setup and/or upgrade the springs.

Mine has a 50mm coil lift and has proven to be quite capable.
