Some times holidays just ain't worth it!

So, I get the first Christmas I have been able to have off for 20 years, I will fly to Cairns on the 23rd/12/11, the Missus will drive the D3 over a week or so before.
Thursday before the wife is due to leave the BB wheels with Cooper A/T3's finally arrive, late that night my truck driver phones to say the rivers are coming up so if the wife wants to drive out she better get going.
So I fit the new tyres that night in the dark by torch light.
A friend is driving out with the Missus & 5 kids, they leave at about 11:00 that night with the car loaded up, over a tonne of trailer & the pod on the roof.
Next morning the mate phones to say they got to Normanton fine, they will phone from Georgetown. Next phone call is from Croydon, mate thinks 1 of the wheels has thrown a weight, he will cruise into Croydon slowly.
A while later, he phones again, he is just in range & I keep missing bits of the call, basically I get that a wheel has fallen off.
So, I spend a few hours worried has hell, what has a wheel fallen off? Is everyone OK? Is the car OK?
Several hours later they phone from Georgetown, the car has snapped 3 wheel studs on the drivers side rear & lost a wheel nut on the passengers side front! What the ?
Have the car trucked to Cairns, thanks RACQ, trailer towed to Ravenshoe, thanks bloke going that way, & family & mate bused to Ravenshoe, thanks RACQ.
Next day get a call from the Cairns dealer, the center hole in the new wheels is to large & the studs were taking all the weight etc, nuts also wrong hence snapped wheel studs. Great please fix studs ($900) I will have the original wheels/tyres sent down (Thankfully in the trailer) but you will have to wait till I fly over because I have the wheel nuts. Great, what time will you be here? 23rd about half 3. Oh, we will be closed by then, I will wait for you.
So I finally get to Cairns, pick up the car & drive to Ravenshoe.
So Boxing Day, missus wakes me up, youngest, 3, has temp of 43, call ambulance, daughter & little-un go to Atherton by Ambulance, I follow in the D3.
Meanwhile the missus & son in law have a massive fight, he packs up with the grand kids, drives to Atherton & picks up the daughter & I spend 4 days in the hospital with the little Foster daughter. She gets better of her own accord, still don't know why, so back to Ravenshoe.
Holiday gets really good after this & Missus, 5 foster kids & I have a great time.
Back to Doomadgee, car has run like a top, only problem is a 6 stacker DVD is not enough for Ravenshoe to Doomadgee.
Send wheels & tyres back to Mt Isa.
They should be there by now & I will find out what the hell is going on.
Sometimes holidays are definitely over rated.

PS I will post some pics of the wheel etc when I get a chance.

Thankfully no one was hurt when the wheel came off.

I hope your asking them to pay for the repairs and any other out of pocket costs as well Jonesfam? At the very least that is what they should be doing.

    cheers,
    Terry

Geez, glad no one was hurt,or stuck in the middle of no where for hours......

Holidays are always a rush, too short, and precious for those of us that don't get many

Usually they are worth it though

Hmm, not the type of excitement you had in mind, I'll bet.

Obviously the wrong rims ordered or supplied and after such a long wait too! I hope the mess gets resolved soon.

That is not a good outcome re the rims, the main thing is knowone was injured.

Are these the BB6 rims or the RV-5s from Performance

I was told that the centre bore and nuts were as per LR specs

They are the BB6 & they were supposedly ordered for the D3.
Yes I'm thankful no one was hurt & the car & trailer were OK.
The Missus said it was not a lot of fun driving the 120ks to Georgetown at below 60kph & they nearly got a couple of trucks up the clacker. They ended up turning on the hazards every time someone came up behind them.
The tyre dealer is on to Performance wheels about things but as a stop gap measure I am having some spacer sleeves made up.

Have a look at this mob, they specialise in the hubcentric rings

The BB-6 wheel style I had on my D3 has changed in the past years from the pics you posted in this thread.

The BB-6's which I had on my D3 which now TerryO owns had the spigot hole the right size to sit on the bush on the hub. Performance Wheels must have changed something lately and maybe got it wrong.

Here is the BB-6 style I had on the D3 - These are Performance Wheels 17*8

They are the same wheel as mine, mine are just the black version.
I think Performance just stuffed up, the correct stud holes, the wrong center hole.
Still waiting for them to get back to us.
