Non OEM Accessories and Extended Warranty Claims

    Hi all,

I am considering fitting a ARB bullbar on my 2010 Disco 4 (2.7L). It already has a long range tank, Rear wheel carrier and a Traxide dual battery. I am also considering an extended warranty

I am querying whether anyone has problem claiming extended warranty (or for that matter the original manufacturer's warranty) where their car has been fitted with acessories and the claim was denied because the fault was attributed to the accessories.

The PDS from Allianz extended warranty states:

"We will not pay any claim arising directly or indirectly out of or in any way connected with...any mechanical failure attributed to a modification made to your vehicle, unless such a modification has been endorsed by the vehicle manufacturer. Modified components must be disclosed on your application and are expressly excluded from coverage."

300+, D3viate and Grumbles and others said that they have no problems claiming from the Extended warranty.

In particular an E-Diff and transfer case was replaced by warranty.

Could I ask whether any car, especially D3viate car (presumably D3) have any modifications or accessories (eg Bullbar etc) fitted at the time the claim was made?

And also does anyone know of whether any extended warranty purchase was denied beacause of the accessories?

    regards

    GD4

I can give you an example of that go-disco4. Years ago when Jeep were making the XJ Cherokee they were having radiator cracking problems. Mine was cracking too and I had a good discussion with the Service Manager about it. He said that those XJs with aftermarket bull bars were being denied manufacturers warranty whereas those XJs wearing genuine Jeep bull bars were covered by the manufacturers warranty. All Jeeps without a bull bar were covered.

Mine was covered due to it being fitted with a genuine Jeep bullbar by a Jeep dealer but then after a radiator replacement it proceeded to continue with these radiator issues and continued to be covered by the manufacturers warranty.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry to revive an old thread - but I recently had some fortune going up against NWC.

I recently received a full refund from National Warranty Company for the dud policy I was sold. I used a template letter from demandarefund.com.au, sent it to Presidian (the company that owns NWC) and within two weeks had a refund. I couldn't believe it, as I (unintentionally) bought the policy back in 2013. The page is run by a group of lawyers from the Consumer Action group, who were available to follow up on my behalf if need be. Hit them up if you've EVER taken out a dud warranty!
