Hi Glenn,
So glad you are happy.
Let us know how you go with the van.
Cheers, Craig
 We love this D4 3.0
 We love this D4 3.0
We have had our D4 HSE for less than 2 weeks and love it! it's so smooth and powerfull, just a joy to drive really. I installed Tim's dual battery system with TWO anderson plugs out the back, and a RedArch brake controller plus the LED light thing all in a day, really is a nice thing to work on.
This weekend will be the first time we will tow the van for a weekend away. The caravan is around 2 tonnes and the D4 will just love it. Well it will be better than the Prado we HAD!
I must say the Disco gets some looks from People, especially from the Toyota owners LOL.
I would also like to thank Craig, Peter, Tim and Lindsay for their help over the Phone with questions about this beast.
P.S. You where right Tim my wife loves driving it!!!
Cheers Glenn

Good luck with the car. You will love towing with it. Just don't forget you have the van on the back.
The only problem you have with towing is all the slow Toyota's getting in your way... My van is over 3000kg and the D4 pulls it like you wouldn't believe. You will be surprised at how well it pulls up hills.

Just don't rely on the cruise control up any hill, even a slight incline, as you will loose a huge amount of speed with a van on the back.
Then you'll rocket down the other side, needing brakes to slow you!
Just be aware, & if it's any different, I'd like to know please!
The 3.0 is extremely sensitive to speed where diesel usage is concerned, particularly towing. We have found at an indicated 100 or below, it's quite acceptable, even good, but anything over & the usage ramps up steeply.

Les.
Cruise Control and Towing....
Maybe that's a topic all on its own. I love my cruise control but I rarely use it when towing. When I do its only on good roads and only to give the right foot a rest and a move around...
I most certainly would never leave it on in hilly country with over 3000kg attached to the back.

That it may be, but it's a direct reponse to the new owner who mentioned towing for the first time. It's both advice of my experiences & also a request for feedback if it's any different.
We tow a 2000kg van like the OP, and we are talking dual lane highway/freeway standard roads here which also have up & down hills, or in the case of the Western Hwy(#8) from Melbourne to Ballarat or the Hume Hwy North of Melbourne, where they have very long sustained inclines ...
Regards,
Les.
Thanks for the comments fellows, heading off tomorrow will only use cruise on the flat as always.
Cheers
