Hit the switch on the dash each time you go into reverse.
Or - rig up a load to plug into the trailer socket so that the car thinks it has a trailer on.

Was driving around the farm over the weekend and since Dad's accident the grass isn't being mowed in the paddocks so the paspalum is quite tall. As soon as you put the vehicle in reverse the sensors come on with a continuous tone, making them useless as a warning device.
Is there any way to mute or cancel the alarm, without permanently disabling the sensors?

The RRS/D3 has a button on the dash that you push if you want to turn the rear sensors off (comes on automatically with next selection of reverse). I doubt the function was taken out for the D4 but if not longer a separate button (could not see one on the D4 dash) is now most likely in your electronic information center.
In my RRS/D3 when sensors are activated you get the initial sound and a light comes on the on the switch - I assume something similar in the D4 - do you get a visual indication when the parking sensors are on? That is most likely the switch to turn then off.
All assumptions about the D4 on my part.

No switch to turn of in the D4. It has a visual display, and sound. You can turn the sound down to completely off using the volume dial, but cannot turn it off on the display.

Off topic for a moment, I note your username, so wonder if you have an answer about the turbo system on the SDV6.
Is the sequential turbo, a single turbo with an unusual turbine design or is it two turbines?
(Whatever it is geez it's quick. That from someone used to a 4.6 V8)

Turning it down via a volume control doesn't work on the 2.7l, been there tried that

I am no mechanic, but the dealer told me (and they also told me it did not have a sport mode and it does) it has two turbos. One comes on at low rpm, then the other one comes on just before the first one runs out of puff. He also told me that if you are cruising and you dump it, both come on. This is how he described the sequential parallel function of the turbos. Apparently this is the first setup in mass produced car...that may be wrong but that's what he said.Originally Posted by Lotz-A-Landies
I don't know if this is right or wrong.....sounds fair enough to me, and it works just fine and dandy.
Without pulling the plastic covers off the engine, I can't check to see if there are two.
Gordon or others will definitely know.....thats why we use the advice from the people on this forum as they know much more about the LR product then the dealers.
