    Mobile phone mount options?

Has anyone found any good mobile phone mounting option for the D4?

I use an external arial and cradle (Smooth talker FTM, but moving to a THB Bury System 9), however the cradle is just loose and not fixed to anything.....

In my Pajero I had a nice leather Kuda Mount which matched the trim and looked part of the factory trim. however I cant for the life of me find one for the Disco 4. the Kuda mount is EU made, hwoever can only find them in the US http://www.kudausa.com/kuda-custom-leather...-k312.html

I have also looked at 'Dash Mount' http://www.dashmount.co.uk/index.php/vmchk...Rover.html in the UK - but they look like they dont ahve one either (and not in the lighter/beige trim to match my Disco 4.

Only other alternative is this http://www.holdmyphone.com.au/select-your-...#dashmount

    http://www.holdmyphone.com.au/Discovery-4-...?addcart=1
    or
    http://www.holdmyphone.com.au/Discovery-4-...?addcart=1

I prefer the leather console set up - but no response from US KUDA and the UK dash mount contact web page ....not working???

Any one had any sucess with finding anything?

    Thanks,

I bought one of the UK Dashmount items and found it a very poor fit, however it may be that they sent me a LHD mount thinking that the UK is the only RHD country in the world or something. I also had an issue with their charging VAT, however after a number of discussions they appear to have reimbursed the VAT into my CC.

I re-painted the mount, but the colour is not a great match, so will re-paint the mount when I change the cradle to the new smart phone this week.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I have the hold my phone (Clic on)mounts in my D3 and VW Golf. They are great. And if and when I get a D4 I will get them again.

They mount without screws or holes and work very well. My only reservation for the D4 is that it is on the LHS away from the driver while in the D3 it is on the RHS.

Get the mount that includes power and then you just drop it in and it charges.

I have the same phone holder both for my D4......and my boat. No drilling and you soon get used to the left hand operation.

Keep in mind you have air bags on the pillars so unless you want a phone imprint on your your face after a prang, you can to do something in the centre.

My RAM Mount GPS mount is off the windscreen in the centre. I'm sure RAM woud have something.

    SmoothTalker + S4 vent holder.

While the jpg shows the setup in my 3, the round air vent design has not changed much re the 4. I used a cell phone mount made by S4 that clips to the air vent and then inserted the SmoothTalker antenna /charger holder onto the S4 holder. No drilling required and seems to work OK. Also the phone screen is very readable from the drivers seat as the mount is located higher up than other alternatives.

I use magnets avaiable at Dick Smith, these are strong enough to hold an Iphone in all but the bumpiest trails. They are also really small on the dash!

Don't know that there is much steel on the D4 dash for the magnets to clamp to!

Where would my wife put her coffee?

My thinking is that the closer the phone is to within the windscreen line of sight, the better. While my air vent concept is not particularily elegant, reading the phone screen is pretty easy as is pushing a button or so on the unit.

In defence of the cup holder idea, I am not convinced the new location of the cup holders on the D4 is an improvement over the D3 setup, hence setting the phone there has merit - as to the coffee, well that under the air vent slide out one that I guess used to be there is starting to look useful.
