If you're going to tow and can afford it, go the 3.0. If not, go the 2.7 and take the Mrs on a world cruise with the change.

Those mongrels in the dealerships sure know how to rob a bloke but seriously don't worry I'll help out and give you 24.5k just because I'm a good guy who wouldn't want to see a bloke miss out on a new D4. ...

    cheers,

Another voice to the chorus. 3.0 litre.

I thought he 2.7 was great in my D3 with adequate power and torque, but the 3.0 is in a different league. I get 1lt/100km better economy too.

Private sale may be the go. My D3 has a few k's on it but that offer was a bit crap.

Dare I say it but I did look at the Cruiser after that. It's big but not as nice.

$24K is crazy. I sold my 09 TDV6 SE a few weeks back. I put it on at the Aus average. It was in great condition had a few extras (DVD etc) but had done over 100K which puts so many people off......when I lived in the UK, there is a saying "100,000 miles on a diesel, its hardly run in". I had to sell by a set date and chopping the price week by week, eventually becoming the cheapest '09 in Aus (lucky buyer!). It still sold for $20K more than you have been offered!!

I changed it for a D4 SDV6..........the power difference is just fantastic and I now get about 0.9Lt/100 better economy...........so eventually it will pay for itself

I too like Craig had a 2.7lt D3 - loved it and had it for a great 5 Years and many great trips. The 3.0lt D4 is really the goods, from the engine point of view.

Private sale is the way to go, I got a fair deal more than $24K but I also got an offer for more than that from my dealer.

    Well,i have to be different

I see many of you guys have gone from D3 to D4.

I went from D2 to D4,so the 2.7 was a massive jump in power, smoothness, there is just no comparison, and my D2 was chipped.

We don't tow anything,i wanted LT tyres,so the 2.7 suited us,money wasn't really an issue.

In the 18's there still are no LT's unless i go oversize, which i didn't want to do,and we have different type of Qld t/sport rules to most other states.

I did test drive the 3.0l,don't get me wrong,it is fantastic.
With the 8 speed auto,it is going to be even better!

I am really happy with the D4

    Re comments on LR dealers

It may not be fair to tar all those in the "motor trade" all with the same brush, but generalisations are usually good for the majority.
When I first told a mate (who had owned many Land Rovers), that I was looking to buy one, his one piece of advice was that "there are no honest Land Rover salesmen", so buyer , and seller, beware.

Yeh good on ya Baz. (Not as much in the sliders as you may think).

Land Rover's would be a great car if you didn't have to buy them from Land Rover dealers!
