Very simple to look underneath providing you know what you're looking for.

We have recently been looking at moving from our current TDi Ford Territory into a Discovery 4 and I have found something I think is interesting for this thread.

Every 2014 TDV6 I looked at was complied as Euro 5 and had a DPF.
Every 2014 SDV6 I looked at still had the F in the VIN, no DPF and was complied Euro 4.

As we've had trouble with DPF in other brands we've had in the past it made our decision to go for an SD over a TD that much easier.

Thanks to the people who have posted this info up because it has helped me a lot over the last few weeks.

Interesting. I have the MY14 SDV6, LR assist asked my 'rego' and determined I had DPF. THEN went on to say all 2014s have DPF anyway ... So checked VIN as mentioned in this thread, and no G in my VIN, AAAF5, seems LR admin may have ... No idea?

Yep, LRA have no idea, because, they only import them, they have nothing to do with the car itself in any way, they are Land Rover in name only.

Have you looked underneath the front passenger seat area for a large muffler-looking device so see if a DPF is fitted or not?

    Have now.

Looks like something obstructive, so I'd say yes ?

    Cheers Baz,

Yes in admin and roadside assist for sure. . I've met a couple of really switched on knowledgable enthusiasts through the dealerships, and there are many more on here who work for LR and share their knowledge (thank you ).

Then there are those on here who don't work for LR, but should, cos they are awesome champions of the mark through dogged determination and passion or frustration leading to shared fulfilment ... you know what I mean

This is what makes up for the bureaucratic failings, for me, until I come across one of those admin roadblocks...then I may change my opinion

So it's possible to have an "F" in the VIN and still have a DPF???
