    faulty Oil level Sensor

Got the D4 2 year service done today at Newcastle and they found a fault on the computer saying the sensor for the oil level is leaking LOL and also the next D4 had the same problem, both are 2010 models with the 3.0L.

Has anyone else had them leak? it's not something you can see on the shed floor! You need to remove the bash plate and look on the right side of engine.

    Cheers

Is it when they don't leak....you start to worry.
I know my D2 had a number of leaks, but mostly due to the LR technicians not doing up the sump nut or the centrifugal filter correctly.

Yes, mine was the other 3ltr D4 in Newcastle with the faulty switch, it was discovered the day before by Bruce Davis when he took the bash plate off to do some work. Just as well it was found then as I am leaving for Nth Qld next week.

I met and had a good chat with Rollin over while waiting for my oil level sensor to be 'checked out' in the workshop.

Thats nice guys , but WHY does it leak ?
Incorrect fitment at time of manufacture/assemnly ?
    Faulty/incorrect design ?
Damaged / hit in some way ?
By the way ,my D3 TDV6 has NO oil leaks at 200000K, wish we could stop perpetuating this BS about all Landrovers leak oil

Dipstick on 3 does not leak.

I am of course certain that the automated oil level measurement system is way better than debating if an engine oil dip stick should be read in the morning before the engine is started or at the end of a long journey when all is near red hot underneath and one is lucky if there is any oil in the pan at all.

I still miss not having an automatic transmission dipstick; guess it is good I am getting old.

Come to think of it, my 4.4L petrol V8 does not have any oil leaks either at 160,000 km - and none are just hiding on the top side of the skid plate either.

Dealer has told me today they need the car for two days because of the leaking pressure switch, Sump has to come off and other things... I thought he said the front drive shaft as well?

So much for a hour wait! Glad it's getting done under warranty, and I just got it serviced! no part in stock.
