GME 3520 UHF in D3 anyone?

Anyone got one in their D3?

If so where do you have the various bits mounted?

I know the main box can fit under the steering wheel. You need to attach it to the top of the horisontal panel.

It's probably too late your you now but I went for the 3540 because the display and controls are all in the microphone and you don't have to find a space for the control head.

The microphone sits nicely in the little rectangular hole on the LHS of the console next to the power plug.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I went down the 3820 path also with the remote mic controls. The 3820 gave me flexibility to program in additional RX (and TX) channels. On the rural runs I like to listen in on the SES, RACV, Ambulance etc. The body is similar to the 3520 amd fits neatly under the drivers seat with the mic and controls mounted near my left knee. The in-built speaker is nice and clear with plenty of volume available. The unit is mounted in the GME clip-in bracket which in turn is mounted on a LR bracket that exists under the drivers seat. It might be taken up if you have rear entertainment system. This bracket is easily removed via a couple of bolts at the carpet cut-outs to facilite the install.

It's not too late, I haven't purchased yet, but I quite liked the idea of having a separate control head. I was wondering if it would fit in front of the transmission shifter between the two power sockets.

Dont know the model # of mine, and had it for ages in my D2 and now D3 but is remote head, and this is where it sits, with the main part under the passenger seat.

Wiring is tucked under the centre console.handset is normally sitting in its mounting which is near the passenger's knee.

    Hope this helps

Thanks Ean that's a good idea, I don't use that spot for anything but gathering dust.

G'day And3rew definitely go down the path of getting the model with all the features on the mic, it is a brilliant model that is easy to use and as all the features are on the mic which when being used is in your hand there is no reaching around the vehicle if the need arises to change channel or volume, I would never go back after having had one, it also looks a lot neater in the vehicle.

    Cheers
