Thread: D3 fault since ARB Fitted Accessories

Just ordered an ARB bull bar for my D3 hope this doesn't happen to me. I have had the battery go flat on me due to a faulty alternator. On jump starting it then driving off I had every imaginable fault come up. After running the car for a while turned the car off and then restarted it and most faults cleared themselves. After driving for all that day stopping and starting the vehicle was back to normal. I would charge the battery up overnight then start it in the morning and fingers crossed it should be OK, if not I would be going back to where it was fitted

A flattened battery with low charge will cause those kinds of issues Julian. I have been told by my battery guy that they should be charged as driving is not sufficient if the battery has been seriously depleted. Recommend ctek battery charger. Good luck !

Thanks guys hopefully a full charge is all it needs, I love this car but this is always in the back of my mind how smart they are. I would never go back to the Patrol as this is significantly better in every way but I didn't have to worry too much about it in this regard,(it was just about everything else I worried about lol) Just got to learn more about them from people on the forum so I know exactly what to do when something does happen

If it is troublesome, follow the advice of the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy (don't panic). Then check your brake lights, if they're ok call the nrma or your mechanic hahahaha !

But seriously, they're complicated but not that complicated and pretty much as reliable as any Japanese vehicle. I've learnt not to flinch when it does weird things, I just call it "character" !

The low-battery-causing-faults thing is just another reason a dual battery setup should be high on your list - its worth it for the peace of mind alone...

I got a dual battery system installed a week or two ago

If accessories have been left on, or doors continually open and shut without engine power, a dual-battery system won't help much (in terms of preventing faults - it will of course help with starting). It might prolong the inevitable for a short time, but these cars pull quite a few amps when they're "awake".

Ok I decided since the battery was 6 years old rather than charge it up I will get a new battery, fitted it over the weekend and no joy still the same problem I had it booked in to Peninsula Rangie for the morning anyway and explained the situation and I've spoken to Damien since and he seems to have rectified it by recalibrating the suspension so over to you guys what would have caused it to s**t itself could arb have done something?

By the way anyone down the southern suburbs of Melbourne you have to get Damien to look at your vehicle he is fantastic! How often do you get to say that about your mechanic!
