I don't think it's really a matter of "trying to buy wiper blades" from a dealer rather a case of putting your car in for a service and returning to find out that they have replaced the old blades with ones that cost a fortune (something you weren't aware of) - in the "old days" your car was serviced and things like wiper blade inserts cost a few dollars ... nowadays you are likely to be charged for "genuine/fully imported" Landrover air for the tyres
most people just aren't aware of the "value adding" that all brands do on their service costs. Once stung you learn and act accordingly - such as buying your filters etc online and saving a small fortune..... oh and don't forget to tell the dealer NOT to add that awful smelly crap to the airconditioning system when they "service" it ... took me a week of driving around with open windows to stop the car smelling like a cheap lolly shop - and for me to stop sneezing every time I got in it !!!!!
    cheers

Replacing wipers blades is part of the official service schedule (Both A and B services) - just like changing oil and filters etc. By accepting that the car is to be serviced you also accept changing wiper blades.

thanks Gary - as I said above "Once stung you learn and act accordingly" - I source my filters (oil - air - pollen) and wiper inserts myself and take them with me when the car goes in for it's service and tell the service advisor to use the pieces supplied - never had any problems this way.
    cheers

Bosch make an aftermarket blade which you can get from your loacal auto store that is for all intents and purposes the same as the LR blade and it's just as good. They sell for around the $25.00 mark.

For the rear blade you can use a generic type and cut to length.

    It works for me!
The blade assy for the BA/BF Falcon fits fine. A side by side comparison, and they are pretty much the same, except for about 15mm shorter in length.

I can understand your frustration, I caught my local dealer doubling the RRP of an air filter. Full of dirty tricks.

It is a perverse reality that car dealers seem to think that car buyers are idiots. We want quality for a fair price. I am more than happy to pay a reasonable premium for convenience but rip me off and I become another customer looking to the Internet. Dealers with short term greed will have a short term business based on this global internet market.

My D3 came out of warranty this June. I will no longer be taking it back to the dealer for service and will find somewhere else that is decent. Fair call? There is nothing on these cars that another company cannot service/fix??
